First discovered in the 1970s, the Shawnee-Minisink site became recognized as one of the most important settlers sites, in the northeastern United States

The site contains clovis points
In addition other stone tools such as scrapers, blades, and flake tools. It indicates a broad range of activities. Including hide preparation and meat processing.

In addition to stone tools, organic remains such as seeds, bones, and plant materials were found
From edible plants such as wild grape and amaranth, the presence of preserved seeds offers insights into the diets. Which not many sites this age had.

It was located along a riverine environment, which would have provided a rich habitat for both large game and plant resources
Early people were not solely dependent on large game hunting but also made use of plant resources.

Early north americans were not just big-game hunters. They also foraged for a variety of plant and animal resources. Shawnee-Minisink remains a vital reference point for human adaptation. Especially in the northeastern part of the continent.
