Paleo Crossing, near Sharon center, is an archaeological site located in northern Ohio, near the confluence of the Great Miami and Ohio River(s). It is significant for evidence of early human activity, particularly from the Paleo-indian period. Dating back to around 13,000 years.
Medina County, Ohio, 10,000 years ago would have been a region that was rich in resources. Making it attractive for early human populations
It is located near two major rivers, that would have provided great access to water, various materials and food sources.
Stone tools, projectile points, and other artifacts were evident. Indicating human activity and habitation
Even post holes are were found. There was a shelter built on the site.

The presence of megafauna remains, such as mammoths or mastodons, may also be linked to the site’s significance
Glacial ice had receded and it is likely a ‘lush’ environment. A bog was nearby, which would have lured animals. The structure was placed below a ridge near the vegetation.
The site is especially important in the context of changing environments during the late Pleistocene
Excavations aimed at understanding the lifeways, subsistence strategies, and mobility patterns. Ongoing studies will continue to contribute a broader understanding of the migration and adaptation of early humans

Paleo crossing is an important archaeological site. It provides a valuable insight into the lives of early human inhabitants in Ohio. The artifacts and evidence of people at the site contribute to understanding of early migration patterns, tool-making techniques, and subsistence strategies of the ancient peoples that started out there.
