Associated with the Vhò culture, a variant of the early neolithic cardial ware tradition. Isorella was discovered in 1992, following deep ploughing in a crop field
Excavations have provided valuable insights into the early Neolithic communities of the region.

Archaeobotanical analyses have identified the presence of wild fruits, including small wild apples and hazelnuts
But there is no direct evidence of a fully domesticated fruit species though. The presence of wild fruits suggests that the inhabitants engaged in foraging practices, complementing their agricultural activities.

Inhabitants likely engaged in various social activities, including communal gatherings and feasting
The presence of diverse mollusc assemblages at the site indicates a varied diet, which may have included shellfish. Suggesting that food preparation and there consumption were central to social interactions.

Architecture remains at Isorella are limited to pit features, which are interpreted as the remains of dwellings or storage pits. There is no evidence of above-ground structures or permanent buildings
The lack of substantial architectural remains suggests that the community may have lived in temporary or semi-permanent. And, that they were possibly constructed with perishable materials.

Isorella-Cascina Bocche, or the neolithic site of Isorella, was a significant neolithic site in the Po valley. Check it out with some more neolithic architecture today.
